UC DANCE COMPANY
The UC Dance Company is a university dance team composed of high level dancers within the University of Calgary who aim to support the school and community. Starting in 2019, the team has performed at university athletic games and events along with charitable functions around Calgary. In addition to these performances, the team also competes at dance competitions, showcasing their talent and dedication. With weekly practices, the team works on choreography for performances, technique, fitness and flexibility while building an atmosphere of trust and a sense of community. Joining the UC Dance Company was the best decision I could have made to benefit my university experience. I am so grateful to be able to continue dancing and doing what I am most passionate about after graduating high school. Being able to rehearse and perform with such a supportive team has improved both my physical and mental health, especially with the stress of being a university student. I have made many friendships and learned a lot about dance and also academics from my peers. With the ability to collaborate with others through the team, I am gaining valuable experience working with others that I can carry forward into my career. I could not be more thankful for this team!

UCDC has been a way for me to continue dancing outside of school and make new friends and connections that I wouldn’t have in just my program! It also adds to my technical training which I don’t work on as much in school!!

Being a part of UCDC has been incredible! Moving here from BC, being on this team helped me make friends who shared my passion for dance. It was super helpful academically as there were other members also in kinesiology who were always willing to lend a helping hand. I can’t imagine my first year being nearly half as good without UCDC!

UCDC gave me the opportunity to continue dancing while in university and helped grow my love for dance even more! After losing my last high school years of competitive dance to the pandemic, the opportunity to compete again with UCDC brought me so much joy. In addition, UCDC presented so many opportunities to connect and grow friendships with other amazing dancers. I can’t thank UCDC enough for how being a part of the team made my university years so much more meaningful!

Joining UCDC was one of the best decisions I've ever made, especially as a first year student! The company has given me so many opportunities to connect with new people, the university and the community. I've met so many incredible people and dancers, who have made my first year of university unforgettable.
